Carignan

The Carignan grape is the beating heart of the western Mediterranean. On poor soils and at an advanced vine age, it reveals its true, profound character. Its homeland stretches from Catalonia to the Rhône, where it produces wines with striking acidity, firm tannins and dark, spicy berry fruit. It demands warmth, yet always retains a vital freshness in the cellar, reminiscent of Mediterranean herbs and damp earth. Carignan lends structure to cuvées, but is also increasingly shining as a characterful soloist.

On the slate soils of Priorat, Terroir al Limit showcases the cool, stony precision of the variety with a single-varietal ageing. On the slopes of the southern Rhône, Saint Jean Du Barroux harnesses the power of old vines to shape dense wines of wild spice in interplay with Grenache and Cinsault.
