Wine Description for Crémant de Loire „Grand Classiques“ Dégorgement Tardif by Liv Vincendeau

Character
This Crémant de Loire with the designation Dégorgement Tardif (late disgorging) embodies the artisanal tradition of Loire sparkling wines in their more mature, complex expression. Through extended ageing on the lees, the wine develops those nutty, brioche-like notes that lend additional depth to varietal Chenin Blanc sparkling wines. The dry orientation underscores the natural minerality and freshness that characterise Chenin Blanc from cooler climates.
Terroir & Origin
The Loire, France’s longest river, defines one of the country’s most versatile wine regions. The temperate Atlantic climate with its cool nights preserves the natural acidity structure of the grapes – essential for high-quality sparkling wines. The tuffeau and limestone soils of the region impart that characteristic minerality which distinguishes Loire sparkling wines from their Champagne counterparts. Liv Vincendeau works in this tradition with respect for terroir and artisanal precision.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Chenin Blanc is the soul of the Loire and one of France’s most versatile grape varieties. In sparkling wine production, it brings vibrant acidity, structure and remarkable ageing potential. The designation Dégorgement Tardif means that the wine remained on the lees after the second fermentation considerably longer than usual – often several years. This extended lees contact develops creamy texture, complexity and those characteristic aromas of roasted nuts, honey and fresh bread, whilst retaining freshness.
Food Pairing Suggestions
The combination of maturity and freshness makes this Crémant a versatile food companion. Classically with oysters, scallops or smoked fish. The nutty notes harmonise beautifully with Loire goat’s cheese or aged Comté. Also an elegant choice with poultry in cream sauce or mushroom dishes.
