The Catalan grape variety Xarello possesses a remarkable structure that sets it apart from most white grapes of the Mediterranean. Rich in phenolics and supported by a stable acidity, it yields wines of bitter herbal spice, fennel and salty minerality. This physical presence makes it the backbone of great sparkling wines and a fascinating base for still white wines.

Just how versatile this variety is can be seen in our range. While Alta Alella captures the salty sea breeze with unsulphured sparkling wines, the traditional house Gramona utilises the structure of the grape for profoundly aged cuvées with Macabeu and Parellada. That Xarello also reaches top form when vinified as a still wine is proven by Enric Soler in Penedès, with vibrant, precise terroir wines of immense depth.
