Color
Dark purple with light violet reflections and black core.
Nose
The Remirez de Ganuza Reserva flaunts ripe black cherry, blackberry, creme de mure and plum jam on the nose. The spicy notes of the plum jam are followed by aromas of cinnamon, red pepper and black cardamom. These are complemented by ethereal components such as thyme and bay leaf, as well as some tobacco. The wine is very complex and opens up visibly after an hour in the carafe.
Palate
The wine is also extraordinarily complex on the palate. Fruity cherry notes and chocolate in the attack are supported by an elegantly laid tannin carpet. The tannins are present but polished and thus very accessible. The Reserva has an elegant and long sweeping acidic arc that gives it an invigorating, zesty freshness. The wine has a high extract sweetness, a very viscous mouthfeel as well as a tremendous length with a fine fruity and spicy finish.
