Wine Description for Meursault AOC 2024 by Thomas-Collardot

Character
Meursault is not a wine that imposes itself – it seduces. With an alcohol content of 12.5% vol. and a dry, bone-dry residual sugar, this 2024 vintage from Thomas-Collardot displays the classical restraint that distinguishes great Burgundies: elegance over opulence, precision over fullness. A wine that rewards patience.
Terroir & Origin
The commune of Meursault on the Côte de Beaune is considered the epitome of white Burgundy. Its limestone-rich, deep soils – interspersed with Kimmeridgian and Bathonian strata – lend the Chardonnay an unmistakable mineral tension and creamy texture in equal measure. The 2024 vintage was characterised in Burgundy by a cooler, damper spring and a decisively sunny late summer – conditions that favour freshness and structure without sacrificing aromatic depth.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Chardonnay – the queen of the Côte de Beaune. In Meursault, this grape variety takes on a distinctive character: less the taut acidity of a Chablis, more the silky texture and nutty warmth that have made the village famous. The estate Thomas-Collardot, deeply rooted in the artisanal traditions of the Côte de Beaune, practises a respectful approach to terroir. Ageing takes place traditionally in oak barrels, with the wood serving as companion rather than protagonist – entirely in keeping with a style that lets the place speak for itself.
Food Pairing Suggestions
A classic accompaniment to Burgundian cuisine: poached turbot with beurre blanc, lobster Thermidor or a simple yet perfect roast chicken from the oven. Aged Comté or Époisses – the robust Burgundian soft cheese – also harmonise beautifully with the depth and texture of this Meursault. For those preferring something lighter: scallops with saffron sauce or a delicate risotto with white truffle.
