Amidst a Mediterranean forest of holm oaks, cork oaks and Aleppo pines, the grapes for this wine grow in the Montes de Málaga Nature Park. The plots are between 30 and 100 years old and are cultivated dry, i.e. without irrigation. They are situated at an altitude of 800 to 1000 metres and have a slope of 46-76%, which is considered a steep slope. As a result, cultivation is done exclusively by hand, and harvest quantities are always low. The La Ola del Melillero consists of 70% Pedro Ximinez and 30% Moscatel.
Color
Pale yellow with green reflections and silver tapered rim.
Nose
At the beginning, the 2020 La Ola del Melilleiro by Victoria Ordonez seems quiet, delicate and somewhat shy. Delicately citrusy notes appear, crowned by fragrant floral top notes of white flowers such as jasmine or lime blossom, subtle spicy notes of nutmeg and cinnamon flowers provide spicy tinder to the nose. Crisp and fresh in its overall appearance with a firm bouquet.
Mouth
On the palate, it is taut with piquant acidity and an aroma that is predominantly based on Muskateller. Animatingly tart phenolic as well as notes of grapes, spices, some citrus and delicately salty nuances let it rush down the throat cool and clear like a mountain stream. Uncomplicated in the best sense, it is a refreshing wine for every day and for any food with a high fun factor.
