Colour & Appearance

Dense, saturated purple with delicate violet reflections – a wine that already promises depth and character in the glass.

Nose

The nose is dark, spicy and possessed of striking freshness. Preserved morello cherries strike the perfect note – somewhere between sweet and sour cherry, complemented by blackcurrant, elderberry, blackberry and a hint of raspberry. Beneath lies a restrained yet essential spice layer: pine bark, pine resin, white pepper, along with Mediterranean herbs such as mint, sage and rosemary. Balsamic and ethereal notes bind everything together with elegant restraint.

Palate

On the palate the wine reveals itself as concentrated and powerful, yet never heavy-handed. A precise, purposeful presence – full, Mediterranean, invigorating. The Carignan lends the whole a dark, almost mystical depth that sets the wine apart from the crowd. Nonchalant drinkability meets genuine ambition here.

Finish

Long and spicy, with lingering herbal and berry notes. The finish is dry, clean and pleasantly fresh – not a gram too much.

Terroir & Origin

The grapes hail from Mont Baudile in Languedoc. The Syrah is rooted in chalky scree, the Grenache on weathered pebble and quartz soils, the Carignan on blue and yellow marl with sandstone and river pebbles – a mosaic of soils that explains the complexity of this wine.

Grape Variety & Vinification

Cuvée of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah. Following harvest, approximately 14 days of skin contact with regular remontage and pigeage. Exclusively natural yeasts, no fining, no filtration. Total sulphur below 30 mg/l – a consistently natural approach with artisanal precision.

Food Pairing Suggestions

Classically with grilled lamb rack with green beans and mint. Equally convincing alongside baked potatoes with parsley, anchovies, capers and green olives or with pan-fried red mullet with kohlrabi and red wine onions.

Special Features

A contemporary Mediterranean red wine that unites power and lightness – rarely achieved. Winemaker Flo Busch demonstrates with Pointe du Jour that Languedoc has far more to offer than mere sunshine and volume.
