Wine Description for MEN IN BRET Zen VdF 2024 by Bret Brothers

Colour & Appearance
Muted cherry red with lively violet sparkle, which underscores the youthfulness of this unconventional Gamay.
Nose
Here it becomes immediately clear: this is no well-behaved Beaujolais-Villages. Wild and tempestuous, the 2024 presents itself with a fascinating complexity of earth, smoke and liquorice. Hovering above this is a seductive floral note, paired with juicy fruit of wild raspberries, blueberries and blackcurrant. A nose that makes you crave more – immediately and in generous quantities.
Palate
Refreshing and invigorating at once. Exuberant fruit meets silky tannin and a stimulating acidity that keeps the wine alive. The earthy minerality lends depth and bite. At just 11.5% alcohol, this is a wine for drinking, not analysing – pure enjoyment, without any effort.
Finish
Juicy, fresh and with a lingering aftertaste of red berries and mineral notes.
Terroir & Origin
Gamay from various villages in Beaujolais, where the Bret Brothers demonstrate with their uncompromising philosophy what this often underestimated region has to offer.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Whole-bunch fermentation with wild yeasts, partly carbonic maceration, nine months ageing in wooden cask. Neither fined nor filtered – an authentic natural wine that prioritises character over perfection.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Best enjoyed with uncomplicated, flavourful small bites: charcuterie, terrine, grilled sausages, cheese boards or simply fresh baguette with good butter. But honestly: this wine needs no food – it is the event itself.
Special Characteristics
A wine with attitude and edges, produced in limited quantities. Those who love it should grab it – the Bret Brothers make no compromises, and demand is high. Drinking wine, not tasting wine – and that is precisely what makes it so valuable in a world of over-polished wines.
