Colour & Appearance

Deep golden yellow with lively green reflections – a wine that already reveals its tension and energy in the glass.

Nose

The nose is of striking precision: kumquat skin, juicy orange flesh and fresh citrus zest interweave with a hint of ginger. Beneath this pulses a profound, almost vibrating minerality – austere, chalky, unmistakable. A still rough diamond whose facets slowly reveal themselves.

Palate

On the palate, this Riesling unfolds with positively alpine coolness: saline, taut, with a lively fruit that playfully oscillates between citrus and tropical hints. The texture is lean and precise, carried by an acidity that glides across the palate like a mountain stream – cool, clear, invigorating.

Finish

Long, mineral, saline-fresh. The aftertaste lingers and lingers – an infallible sign of great terroir and outstanding ageing potential. This wine is only at the beginning of its development.

Terroir & Origin

Mölsheim lies in the Zellertal, one of the coolest and windiest corners of Rheinhessen. The Donnersberg massif sends unobstructed winds through the increasingly narrow valley – temperatures are noticeably cooler, drying times after rain extremely short. The vines are rooted in bare limestone rock, covered only by a thin layer of gravel. Vineyard work is arduous, the limestone stones literally grow out of the ground – yet it is precisely this austerity that inscribes itself with inimitable directness into every sip.

Grape Variety & Vinification

Pure Riesling, classified as VDP First Growth. With 12.5% alcohol and only minimal residual sweetness, this wine displays the dry, serious side of Rheinhessen Riesling. Recommendation: in its youthful stage, definitely decant and enjoy from large glasses at not too cold a temperature.

Food Pairing Suggestions

The cool minerality and lively citrus fruit demand dishes with finesse and spice: red mullet with dried tomato and candied lemon, sautéed langoustine with peaches and fennel or – for a vegetarian encounter on equal footing – saffron cauliflower with roasted pak choi.
