Wine information
Around 6 % of the areas of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation are planted with white vines. The proportion is about the same at Domaine de Marcoux. This white Châteauneuf-du-Pape comes essentially from three parcels, namely the 0.50 ha Roussanne site Les Esqueirons, planted in 1987 - it is located on the western slope of the village hill -, a Bourboulenc parcel of the village Les Bosquets with 0.35 ha, also on the western slope of the village hill, and a very small Clairette parcel , which has been used since 2020. The soils have clay, colluvium and limestone from the Cretaceous period of the Barremian. The grapes were harvested by hand in 50 kg crates. The berries were destemmed and pressed, and the must was put into stainless steel tanks. Alcoholic fermentation was carried out at about 17 °C. The wine was then aged on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks and demi-muids. The white wines of Domaine de Marcoux do not undergo malolactic fermentation and are bottled after about seven months.

Nose
The Châteauneuf-du-Pape, blanc 2021 is a subtly fragrant wine reminiscent of acacia and orange blossom and broom combined with peach, apricot, candied lemon and a little brioche spread with honey. There are also notes of aniseed. But the emphasis is definitely on subtlety and delicacy.
Mouth
On the palate, it immediately becomes denser and more intense with spicy notes and a southern aroma. Juicy and full, the fruit has a round, elegant and warm mouthfeel. The acidity is as well integrated as the fine spicy bitterness that is so typical of the wines of this appellation. It is a full but never heavy wine with a viscous juiciness and a pleasant aniseed freshness. All in all, this makes it an excellent food companion for elegant southern cuisine.
