Wine profile
Our journey today takes us to a unique 2019 cuvée from the picturesque Bandol region, made from 90 % Mourvèdre and 10 % Grenache. In a kind of "amphitheatre" opening onto the sea, the selected vines stand steadfastly on clay, limestone and chalk soils dating back to the Triassic period. This outstanding wine, a Vin de Garde, is produced only from the noblest and oldest vines, which thrive at an altitude of 250 metres. After a strenuous fermentation of about three weeks, this nectar undergoes careful ageing, which takes place over 20 months in various specially selected barriques, tonneaux and barrels.
Colour shade
A deep, restrained violet-red that is convincingly colour-dense all the way to the rim.
Fragrance intensity
This 2019 Château de Pibarnon Rouge is a red wine that virtually invites you to dive into its beguiling aromas. The lush fruitiness of sweet blackberries, black cherries, blackcurrants, elderberries and sweet wild raspberries artfully combine with notes of tree bark, liquorice, leather, cocoa and roasted herbs such as rosemary, thyme and juniper.
Taste experience
It pours over the tongue with charm and breadth, while sweet cassis notes combine with a pronounced tannin profile and invigorating acidity. An authentic, remarkable red wine that, with its pristine and predatory appeal, harmonises perfectly with intense cuisine and especially game dishes.
