Wine description for Château de Pibarnon Blanc AOC 2024 from Château de Pibarnon

Colour & appearance
Bright straw yellow with brilliant clarity - a wine that already promises freshness and precision visually.
Nose
Fascinatingly complex and yet enchantingly delicate: Salt lemons and green almonds meet Fennel green and mineral rock notes. These are joined by hints of light-coloured puff pastry, Hay, Camomile and Lime blossom. The bouquet is light, airy and savoury - Mediterranean elegance in its purest form.
Palate
The full class of this Bandol Blanc is revealed here: Salt and cedrat lemons merge with Cantaloupe melon, Nashi pear and white peach. Particularly impressive is the herbal seasoning of Fennel green, Anis and Hawthorn, accentuated by a hint of white pepper. The wine possesses southern density and power, yet remains crystal clear, straightforward and of astonishing finesse. Mouthwatering and appetising.
Departure
Persistently fresh with a salty, mineral finish and fine herbal flavour. The acidity carries elegantly and never makes the wine seem heavy.
Terroir & origin
The vines are rooted at an altitude of 300 metres on terraced north-facing slopes above blue marl - the legendary soil type that is also known from the Jura, Pétrus and d'Yquem. This geological peculiarity gives the wine its distinctive minerality and depth.
Grape variety & vinification
A cuvée of 55% Clairette, 30% Bourboulenc and 15% Marsanne and Ugni Blanc. Extremely low yield of only 23 hl/ha. Direct pressing, natural sediment settling, then spontaneous fermentation over 25 days at low temperatures in enamelled tanks - pure craftsmanship without oenological tricks.
Food pairing suggestions
Perfect for Grilled sea bass, Scallops with fennel, Bouillabaisse, Goat cheese or Provençal herb dishes. Also to Sushi and Ceviche a brilliant choice.
Special features
A white wine that combines southern opulence with northern precision - this balance is rarely found in Provence. The terroir and the uncompromising work in the vineyard make this Bandol Blanc one of the most exciting white wines in the south of France.
