Alicante Nero and Grenache Cannonao are often used synonymously to refer to a particular grape variety. At Ampeleia, this variety presents itself in its most delicate and gentle form, like a gentle breeze. With a cultivation altitude of 250 metres above sea level and a harvest in the first week of September, this variety delivers a remarkable yield of 50hl/ha.
The processing of this exquisite drop took place over a period of six months in cement containers. Of these, 30% contained the whole grape.
The viewer's gaze is caught by a bright garnet red that plays with a slight cloudiness and delicate brightening towards the edge.
Take a breath and let yourself be enchanted by the reviving aromas of bright cherries, red currants, rose hips and mulberries. Fused with the unique scent of Tuscan herbs and distinct floral bouquet of violets, elderberries and lavender, the result is a lightly fragrant wine that makes it hard to contain your anticipation of the first sip.
On the palate, the Ampeleia Alicante reveals a filigree and stimulating structure. A fruit experience combines with silky tannin structure and refreshing acidity that unfolds ripe flavours. When properly chilled, this wine becomes a palate-pleaser with substance - ideal for cosy hours on the terrace accompanied by Italian dishes.
