Nose
The Große Gewächs Riesling dry 2020 from the Eitelsbach Karthäuserhof vineyard whets the appetite from the very first moment. The scent of a meringue with ripe pineapple, butterscotch and lemon tart in combination with herbs, rocks, lemon zest and yeast is irresistible. Although sweet aromas emerge here, the Great Growth at the same time bright, clear and prancing.
Palate
On the palate, the Riesling as juicy, creamy and cool with a stony and tart component. In fact, one must involuntarily readjust, as the Great Growth is naturally a dry wine and the nose seemed so seductive. The Riesling is still a little herbal and yeasty at the moment. It needs air and time for the fine aromas of herbs and bright fruit to develop. There is a wonderful tension in the acid structure, a light smokiness of crushed wet slate with some petrichor and a fine saltiness in the now already long finish.
