Visual perception
A radiant, light golden yellow shimmers in the glass, vividly accentuated by green reflections.
Olfactory profile
The 2016 Pinot Gris Altenbourg reveals itself seductive and full-bodied, which the first impression in the fragrance already promises. The prelude is made by caramelised walnuts, forest honey, dates and nougat. On contact with oxygen, green notes of chervil, pine shoots and fennel develop, supported by a wonderfully refreshing ginger note.
Taste
On the tongue, the 2016 Pinot Gris Altenbourg is oily and sweet, flirting with a refreshing acidity and an excellent mineral foundation. A clear indication of its potential for maturity, although it is currently still too young to be tasted yet. In a few years, this wine will be an excellent choice with both refined and heavy dishes.
Alternative food recommendations
Try it with duck liver without force-feeding, served with dates and a walnut brioche, or with a lamb tajine enriched with carrots. A muenster cheese, enhanced with white truffle and baked in brick dough, could also be an excellent complement.
