Wine Description for Grappa di Frappato L15/2023 500ml by Occhipinti

Colour & Appearance
Crystal clear and brilliant in the glass – a grappa of remarkable purity that reflects the distiller’s craft precision of master distiller Giovanni La Fauci.
Nose
Surprisingly delicate for 45% alcohol. Rather than brute spirit force, a filigree bouquet unfolds of pear and quince, threaded through with almond and subtle yeast notes. The thick, aromatic skins of the Frappato only hint at red fruits – a whisper that awakens curiosity.
Palate
Here the true elegance of this distillate reveals itself. Fine-grained and dry, with a subtle spice that never becomes intrusive. The red fruits now emerge more distinctly, as though they’ve only found their voice in the mouth. At 45% vol., one might expect harshness – instead one finds balance.
Finish
Long, fruity and remarkably harmonious. The fruity notes linger without being overshadowed by alcohol – a sign of careful distillation and high-quality source materials.
Terroir & Origin
From the vineyards of Arianna Occhipinti in Sicily, where the Frappato grapes develop thick, aromatic skins beneath the Mediterranean sun. Distillation takes place in Valdina near Messina by experienced master distiller Giovanni La Fauci.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Frappato pomace, that autochthonous Sicilian grape variety which Occhipinti has made her speciality. The aromatic skins were Arianna’s inspiration for this grappa – an idea that La Fauci’s artisanal skill executes perfectly.
Food Pairing Recommendations
As a digestif naturally excellent, but also boldly with beetroot carpaccio with raw ham, smoked eel with raspberries and teriyaki or quince compote with vanilla cream and ginger. The fruity notes harmonise surprisingly well with savoury snacks.
Special Features
A grappa that breaks with convention: elegant rather than forceful, fruity rather than fiery. The collaboration between one of Sicily’s most innovative winemakers and a traditional master distiller yields a distillate of remarkable finesse.
