Wine description for the Côtes du Jura, Chardonnay 2023 from Domaine Grand

Colour & appearance

Brilliant golden yellow with lively greenish-gold reflections, which are characteristic of a young, energetic Jura Chardonnay.

Nose

A fascinating tension between reduction and oxidation - the signature of the Jura. The aroma is multi-layered with notes of freshly cracked walnuts, precisely sketched apple tart and juicy cider apples. Underneath lies a mineral component of cool stone and flint, complemented by floral hints of hawthorn and the spicy dimension of sage. A subtle yeast note completes the complex bouquet.

Palate

On the palate, the wine impresses with its Salty-mineral presence and juicy texture. The subtle oxidative "vin-de-voile" flavours lend it a characteristic nuttiness and depth. The structure is firm and precise with a pleasantly tart, almost savoury bitter note on the finish, which creates tension. The fine grip and considerable length are remarkable, making this wine a true expression of the Jura terroir.

General information

After spontaneous fermentation in oak barrels and subsequent ageing in multi-year barriques, the result is a wine that is perfectly balanced at 13.5% alcohol and has a restrained residual sweetness that emphasises its salty minerality.

Special features
