Bright lemon yellow with golden reflections
Nose
The 2020 Albillo Mayor smells wonderfully of yellow and white fruits with a salty touch. Peach and nectarine interact with quince and pear. Grapefruit and lemon zest provide a tart freshness. Salted almonds and smoked almonds add that special something to the glass. Popcorn and salted caramel round off this salty thought. It appears linear and straightforward. A little turmeric and saffron provide subtle, oriental accents in the background. Acacia honey as well as some nut butter also leave an unusual but very fitting impression.
Palate
On the palate, it makes its way in a powerful and sublime manner. At the same time, El Lebrero clearly packs a punch. Its balance of acidity and alcoholic sweetness keeps the tension high. Its fine tannin forms its backbone and provides it with a pleasant bitterness. The ripe aromatics work wonderfully with its mineral, sparse character. With time and air in the glass, it expands generously. Meltingly, it ensnares the palate for a long time. The yellow fruits, salted almonds and oriental spices emerge wonderfully in the aftertaste.
