Info
The Trebbiano d'Abruzzo for Emidio Pepe's export line, like the Montepulciano, grows in old pergola plants of over 40 years and comes to the market undecanted.
Colour
Golden yellow with orange reflections and silky opacity.
Nose
Immediately after opening, the nose of Emidio Pepe's 2004 Trebbiano d'Abruzzo reveals distinctive notes of walnut, green almond and popcorn. Followed by slightly musty notes of mashed apples, clear notes of oxidation float above it initially, which integrate into the overall appearance after sufficient aeration. Since Emidio Pepe's white wines are not decanted at the winery, we recommend opening and aerating them in good time. After about two hours, the wine shines and smells of yeast cake with glaze, green apples, camomile tea and fresh sage.
Mouth
The palate reflects the impressions of the nose surprisingly congruently. The nose is dominated by clear nutty notes, walnut shells and almonds. Haptically, it is characterised by its creamy melting, the fruit only appears after some time in the glass. Dried apple, candied orange peel and sage outline an aromatic trinity while the ultra-fine tannins contour the tongue. The ripe acidity is well integrated into the overall appearance, which flows into the long finish with a gently pulsating reverberation.
