Wine Description for Beaujolais-Lantignié „Glou des Bret“ Zen AOC 2023 from Bret Brothers

Colour & Appearance
Pale, transparent crimson – the clarity and luminosity immediately reveal the artisanal precision and unadulterated character of this Gamay.
Nose
Complex and multi-layered: tobacco and freshly opened walnut shells meet red berries and violet blossoms. Joined by wild herbs and undergrowth – a spicy, cool aromatic profile that unites refinement and freshness.
Palate
Here the true nature of this Beaujolais reveals itself: vibrating with freshness, lively and transparent. With little extract, but all the more tension – a tingling on the tongue reminiscent of the finest examples of natural vinification. Juicy, precise, without any heaviness.
Finish
The finale turns spicy with fine liquorice notes, deep red fruit, a hint of tobacco and delicate violets. Medium length, elegantly fading.
Terroir & Origin
The 0.7-hectare parcel lies at 230 metres altitude above Lantignié, directly bordering the cru Régnié. A Beaujolais-Villages de Montagne, whose vines are rooted partly in pink granite, partly in blue sandstone – this geological diversity shapes the cool, mineral character.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Gamay, harvested on 15 September 2023. Whole-bunch fermentation in spontaneous carbonic maceration, without filtration or fining. pH value 3.47, total SO₂ below 10 mg/l – a radically natural approach that foregrounds fruit and freshness.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Perfect with charcuterie, terrine de campagne, grilled tuna or mushroom dishes. Also an excellent choice with lightly chilled goat’s cheese or coq au vin.
Special Features
A prime example of modern, artisanal Beaujolais: minimal sulphur, maximum authenticity. The „Glou des Bret“ shows what Gamay can do when left to its own devices – a wine for enjoying, not analysing.
