Weinbeschreibung für Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise rouge “La Fortune” AOC 2023 von A. et P. de Villaine

Character
When Aubert de Villaine, co-owner of the legendary Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, puts its name on a label, that speaks volumes. This Bourgogne from the Côte Chalonnaise epitomises Burgundian philosophy in its most accessible form: Transparency, elegance and loyalty to origin. Der Name “La Fortune” – das Glück – ist Programm: ein Wein, der die Essenz des Pinot Noir ohne Prätention vermittelt, dabei aber stets die Handschrift eines Perfektionisten trägt.
Terroir & origin
The Côte Chalonnaise is considered the underrated jewel of Burgundy, located south of the prestigious Côte d'Or. Here you will find calcareous soils with clay and marl components, which give the Pinot Noir structure and minerality without overpowering the fruit. The temperate continental climate with cooling influences enables a Slow, balanced maturation. De Villaine cultivates its plots according to biodynamic principles, This is reflected in the vibrancy and precision of his wines.
Grape variety & vinification
Pinot Noir is the most demanding of all grape varieties - thin-skinned, moody, uncompromisingly honest. In the hands of de Villaine, it becomes a medium for terroir expression. The vinification follows Burgundian tradition: Gentle hand-picking, moderate extraction, ageing in oak barrels with restrained use of wood. The 2023 vintage benefited from a balanced vegetation cycle, which produced wines of natural balance and lively acidity. The result is a Pinot Noir of silky texture and Burgundian finesse that harmoniously balances fruit and structure.
Food pairing suggestions
A versatile companion for sophisticated but not overcomplicated cuisine: coq au vin, Braised rabbit with mushrooms, Pink roasted duck breast or matured Comté. Also to Tuna Tataki or Mushroom risotto an elegant choice.
