Wine Description for Attis Mar Aged 9 Months Underwater in the Galician Sea 2022 1500ml Magnum by Attis Bodegas y Vinedos

Colour & Appearance
Pale straw yellow with greenish reflections, crystal clear and brilliant in the glass. The magnum bottle displays fine sediment traces – witnesses to nine months of underwater ageing in the Atlantic.
Nose
Fascinatingly complex: Salty sea notes meet white peaches and citrus blossom. Beneath these, wet stones, fennel and a hint of iodine. The maritime character is unmistakable – as if the spray of the Atlantic has been captured. With air contact, nuances of apricot and mandarin develop.
Palate
Electrifying acidity that refreshes the mouth like a sea breeze. Lime, green apple and minerality dominate, underpinned by a fine salinity that gives this Albariño its unique signature. Medium body with taut structure and impressive precision. The underwater ageing appears to have imparted additional depth and an almost meditative calm to the wine.
Finish
Long, salty-mineral with lingering citrus aromas. The freshness remains present for minutes – a wine that doesn’t let go and demands the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
From vineyards up to 400 metres altitude in Meaño, Rías Baixas. Rare sandy soils with little clay force the vines to develop deep roots. The Atlantic microclimate with dry summers and mild, rainy winters shapes the character of these extraordinary Albariños.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Albariño from old vines. After vinification, aged nine months underwater in the Galician Sea – a spectacular method that utilises constant temperature, darkness and gentle movement from the tides. The result: extraordinary freshness and maritime complexity.
Food Pairing Recommendations
Oysters, scallops, percebes (goose barnacles), Pulpo a la Gallega, Dover sole, ceviche, sushi and sashimi. Perfect also with goat’s cheese or simply on its own as an aperitif.
Special Features
The spectacular underwater ageing and magnum format make this wine a rarity. Robustiano Fariña is among Galicia’s most innovative winemakers and simultaneously preserves forgotten grape variety treasures.
