Wine Description for Xión 2024 by Attis Bodegas y Vinedos

Colour & Appearance
Luminous straw yellow with delicate green reflections – an Albariño that visually communicates its Atlantic freshness and youthfulness.
Nose
Here Albariño reveals itself in its purest, most expressive form: white peach, nectarine and green pear meet exotic notes of passion fruit, lychee and pineapple. Alongside this, a fascinating herbal bouquet of garden mint, lemongrass and lemon balm. The mineral foundation – wet stone, saline breeze, cool sea air – lends the wine that depth and complexity which makes Val do Salnes so distinctive. Vegetal hints of artichoke and fennel complete the multi-layered aromatic interplay.
Palate
Juicy and dense, yet never heavy – here the wine displays its full prowess. The fruit is present but always balanced by crisp, vibrant acidity. A fine, saline minerality runs like a thread through the progression, creating a clear, fresh tension together with the herbal aromatics. A wine that oscillates between warm and cool, juicy and taut – mature, precise and with that typically Galician lightness.
Finish
Persistently fresh with saline minerality and an echo of citrus peel and herbs. The acidity carries long and invites another sip.
Terroir & Origin
Val do Salnes, the finest sub-zone of Rías Baixas for Albariño. The vines are trained in the classic pergola system on granitic-sandy soils with western exposure to the Atlantic – ideal conditions for freshness and minerality.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Albariño, hand-harvested and selected. Cold maceration, temperature-controlled fermentation at 12-15°C, four months on the lees in stainless steel tanks with bâtonnage. No malolactic fermentation – the wine remains as clear and precise as the terroir that shapes it.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Made for seafood of all kinds: Pulpo a la Gallega, scallops, oysters or percebes. Also an excellent choice with grilled fish, ceviche, sushi or a fresh goat’s cheese salad.
Special Features
An Albariño that unites tradition and precision – maritime, mineral and with that unobtrusive elegance which distinguishes great Atlantic white wines. Attis proves once again why Val do Salnes is regarded as the epicentre of the variety.
