Wine Description for Pouilly-Vinzelles Climat “Les Quarts” 2016 1500ml by La Soufrandière

Colour & Appearance
An intense, dense golden yellow with brilliant reflections that radiates power and concentration in the glass.
Nose
The bouquet is aristocratic and profound. Aromas of ripe quince, wood pear and succulent apricot combine elegantly with fine nuances of anise. With air, a subtle, masterfully integrated oak influence reveals itself, which underscores the cool, stony minerality.
Palate
On the palate, this Chardonnay displays an impressive balance between density and energy. The full fruit melt is structured by a precise, vibrant acidity. The texture is juicy and compact, supported by a saline, deep minerality that is typical of the old vines of “Les Quarts”.
Finish
The aftertaste is long, precise and remarkably cool. It leaves behind an invigorating freshness that greatly promotes the drinking flow and invites further discovery.
Terroir & Origin
Hailing from the prime site of Pouilly-Vinzelles at 250m elevation. The 48 to 80-year-old vines provide the necessary depth and complexity that elevates this wine far above the level of simple Mâconnais wines.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Chardonnay, farmed biodynamically. Following whole-bunch pressing, the wine aged for 11 months in 228-litre oak barrels and spent a further 6 months in stainless steel tank for harmonisation.
Food Pairing Suggestions
An excellent food companion to risotto with crayfish and artichokes, tuna with a peppercrust or glazed asparagus with orange accents.
Special Features
In the magnum (1500ml) format, the 2016 vintage presents itself with additional finesse and ageing potential. A wine that loves time and oxygen in the larger bottle.
