Wine description for Gheta Olio Extra Vergine di Oliva L2024/25 1500ml Magnum from Occhipinti
- Colour & appearance
- A dense lemon yellow with lively green reflexes and golden accents - visually a promise of freshness and intensity. The viscosity is remarkably high, the oil flows slowly and densely.
- Nose
- Radically green and wild in its flavour. Wheatgrass, Freshly mown grass and Lemon grass dominate the first impression, followed by a bouquet of Mediterranean herbs: Mint, Chervil, Parsley. Light-coloured nuts - Macadamia, Almond, Pine nuts - complete the profile. White and green pepper lend spicy accents, while green olives emerge clearly. Hardly any fruit, but instead race, elegance and an almost ethereal freshness.
- Palate
- The start is surprising Mild and charming, despite the intense green and herbal flavours. The high viscosity caresses the palate. Then a clear flavour develops Sharpness with almost no bitterness - a rarity with such green oils. A fine nutty note emerges in the aftertaste, again Pine nuts and Almonds, while the herbal flavours elegantly recede.
- Departure
- Long, nutty and of remarkable purity. The initial sharpness fades gently, with minimally bitter nuances providing structure. The light nutty flavours remain present and lend elegance to the finish.
- Terroir & origin
- The olive trees, pruned 80 years old, The Nocellara del Belice is rooted in Sicily on the same terroir where Arianna Occhipinti spent her childhood. The Nocellara del Belice comes from the Trapani area on the west coast of Sicily - the birthplace of her grandmother Margherita, after whom this oil is named.
- Grape variety & vinification
- A cuvée from Nocellara Etnea (in small quantities) and Nocellara del Belice, the dominant variety. The oil is produced with the same care and philosophy as Arianna's natural wines - authentic, unadorned, vibrant.
- Food pairing suggestions
- Perfect for grilled fish, Carpaccio, Burrata or simply click on warm sourdough bread. Excellent for Sicilian vegetable dishes, Pasta with sardines or as a finish over White bean soup.
- Special features
- An olive oil that combines memory and craftsmanship. The Magnum bottle (1500ml) emphasises the generosity of this product - a statement of quality and family tradition from Occhipinti.
