Wine Description for Meursault Les Narvaux AOC 2023 1500ml Magnum by Rémi Jobard

Character
A white wine of crystalline clarity and remarkable, quiet depth. Rémi Jobard demonstrates impressively here that Meursault need not be opulent or oak-driven, but can live from precise minerality and cool elegance. In the generous magnum format, this white Burgundy matures even more slowly and harmoniously. It captivates through a fine texture and is completely free from intrusive roasted aromas. A masterfully crafted, purist wine that demands patience and fascinates with its unvarnished character.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from the renowned village vineyard site Les Narvaux in Meursault, Burgundy. Jobard has been farming his vineyards organically since the 1990s (Ecocert-certified) and has completely eschewed herbicides since 1998. The manual soil management and natural viticulture enable the terroir to express itself unveiled, precisely and with maximum transparency in the wine.
Grape Variety & Vinification
This pure Chardonnay owes its aromatic purity to an extremely slow, gentle pressing of six to twelve hours, which consistently avoids bitter compounds. The ageing takes place not in the classical barrique, but in large 600-litre casks from cooper Stockinger, which minimises oak influence. After approximately 15 months on the lees, the wine is bottled dry and unfiltered at a moderate 12.5% vol.
Food Pairing Recommendations
The fine texture and taut acidity structure of this Meursault harmonise perfectly with demanding dishes such as pan-fried turbot, lobster with light butter sauce or a classic Bresse chicken with morels. It also proves to be a brilliant companion to mature Comté cheese.
