Wine
Marco de Bartoli, Marsala Superiore Riserva 1987
To the wine
Marsala is made from Grillo grapes whose must is enriched in parts with Mistella. Mistella is a mix of fresh grape must and brandy distilled from the same grapes of origin. The Marsala Superiore was fortified with Mistella in 1987. It was aged in oak and walnut casks of different sizes.
Color
dark amber with slight cloudiness
Nose
A scent of freshness and aging at the same time escapes the glass. Finest caramel mixes with bitter orange marmalade and orange peel, fruit bread, walnut and leather. The scent is extremely complex and animating and is accompanied by cinnamon and nougat with increasing air.
Palate
Wonderful is the opulence with simultaneous freshness at the palate. The acid stands like a one, but does not play itself into the foreground. There are the fruit, the sweetness, the overripe stone fruit and dates, fruit bread and nuts. Turkish mocha and chocolate mingle in this dense, almost creamy composition. They complete this extremely elegant sweet wine.
