Wine description for Crozes Hermitage rouge, Georges AOP 2022 by Les Bruyères

Colour & Appearance
Deep, impenetrable purple – a visual promise of concentration and substance.
Nose
A textbook northern Rhône Syrah: elderflower, blackberries and ripe plums meet black olive tapenade and bresaola. An animal note of hung game joins in, whilst black pepper, mocha, garrigue herbs, clove and a floral hint of violets and roses provide complexity. This is pure northern Rhône – spicy, wild and seductive.
Palate
Here the true class reveals itself: substance without heaviness, freshness despite fullness. The clear acidity structure and vibrant minerality form the backbone for the dark, meaty fruit. The elegant tannin is present, but never intrusive, the earthy wildness perfectly balanced. This equilibrium between warmth and coolness, between stoniness and juiciness, between pepper and florality – this is authentic northern Rhône Syrah with character and charm.
Finish
Long, mineral and with lingering pepper notes accompanied by floral accents.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from 30 to 40-year-old vines on clayey limestone terraces in Beaumont-Monteux. This terroir gives the wine its characteristic minerality and freshness – typical of the finest vineyard sites of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Syrah, spontaneously fermented with one month of skin contact and pigeage. The special touch: the 12-month ageing took place in equal quarters in amphora, ovoid, barrique and fuder – a creative method that gives the wine complexity and different textures without dominating it.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Perfect with braised beef stew, lamb leg with herb crust, game dishes such as venison loin or wild boar ragout. Also excellent with aged Comté or Pecorino.
Special Features
An authentic, artisanally produced Crozes-Hermitage that captures the full range of the Syrah grape in the northern Rhône – unpretentious, yet with depth and personality.
