Wine description for La Dulce Quietud 2014-2018 500ml from Quinta de la Quietud

Quinta de la Quietud has created a small masterpiece with this exceptional sweet wine from Toro - a rarity that reveals patience and craftsmanship in every drop. With only 950 bottles, this is a wine for connoisseurs looking for something special.

Colour & appearance

Bright old gold with brilliant reflections, this wine presents itself in the glass - radiantly clear and of impressive intensity, which already promises concentration and maturity visually.

Nose

The nose unfolds in fascinating layers: fresh dates and Dried figs form the fruity core, framed by the finest Candied orange peel. Then come Bergamot and pickled ginger while spicy notes of light-coloured tobacco, Linseed oil and a trace Shellac complexity and depth. This complexity is remarkable.

Palate

On the palate, the wine shows its true greatness: the fruit becomes more intense, Dried fruit, Apricots and Candied orange peel merge with Acacia honey and are used by Orange blossom water elegantly rounded off. The texture is creamy, almost viscous, with 265 grams of residual sugar, perfectly balanced by spicy oak notes. The finish is long, orchestral and impressively persistent.

General information

This cuvée mainly combines Malvasia with Verdejo, Albillo, Moscatel and Palomino from vines between 35 and 100 years old. After the harvest, the grapes are dried in the open air - an elaborate process reminiscent of passito wines. The subsequent 48-hour pressing and ten-month fermentation in French barriques, followed by 36 months of ageing, create exceptional concentration with only 10.5% alcohol.

Food pairing suggestions

This wine is more versatile than you might think: classic with Foie gras terrinesurprisingly harmonious Oysters, whose saltiness contrasts perfectly with the sweetness. Also to Blue Cheese, Walnut cake or simply to high-quality Trail mix a pleasure.

Special features

A multi-vintage blend from 2014-2018 that combines continuity and complexity. The limited production and the elaborate drying process make this wine a real speciality - a Mediterranean sweet wine that has nothing to hide from great Sauternes or Tokaj.
