Wine Description for Colette Rosé non dosé 2022 1500ml Magnum by Jérôme Blin

Colour & Appearance
Luminous, intense ruby red with a slightly transparent structure – this rosé presents itself more like a claret than a classic Champagne. Initially powerful mousse that settles into a calm, fine perlage.
Nose
Extraordinarily distinctive and complex. Dominant notes of black cherries, blackberries and blueberries, underpinned by a hint of cassis. These are joined by figs, vanilla and pronounced oak wood aromas, accentuated by mineral nuances of oyster shell and graphite.
Palate
Here Jérôme Blin shows courage: the oak character is unusually prominent for a Champagne – and yet works brilliantly. Juicy sweet and sour cherries meet fleshy berry fruit, accompanied by delicate cinnamon spice and vanilla. Despite its substantial structure, the wine remains remarkably fresh and easy-drinking, with lively perlage and a fine yet present tannic grip that gives it backbone.
Finish
Powerful and lingering, with echoing red fruit and a mineral freshness that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from the vineyard sites La Champagne (white wine component) and La Sablonnière (red wine component) with calcareous clay and silt. The vines have an average age of 35 years.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Pinot Meunier from the 2022 vintage. 78% was vinified as white wine, 22% as red wine aged in oak – which explains the distinctive oak character. No filtration, no fining, natural malolactic fermentation. Tirage in March 2023, disgorging in April 2024. Non dosé, meaning no dosage liqueur added. Limited edition of just 1,921 bottles.
Food Pairing Suggestions
This powerful rosé demands equally aromatic dishes: rare-cooked entrecôte, lamb rack with herb crust, tuna tartare or grilled salmon. Also an exciting choice with mushroom dishes or mature Comté.
Special Characteristics
An uncompromising, artisanally crafted Champagne that breaks conventional expectations. The oak barrel ageing of part of the wine makes it one of the most distinctive rosé Champagnes around – a wine for the adventurous.
