Wine Description for Goldloch Riesling Auslese Grosse Lage 2023 375ml by Diel

Colour & Appearance
Radiant, pale golden yellow with luminous green reflections – a visual promise of freshness despite noble-sweet concentration.
Nose
Intoxicatingly complex: candied lemon and ice bonbon meet pure mineralic precision. Behind these unfold apricot, ginger, delicate florals and floral honey. The nose unites sweetness and elegance in remarkable balance – an aromatic masterpiece that impressively underscores the quality of the Goldloch vineyard site.
Palate
A true firework of contrasts: the sweetness of the Auslese meets vibrant acidity, creating that electrifying tension which characterises great Nahe Rieslings. Juicy peach and pineapple fruit dance on the tongue, enveloped in saline minerality that lends the wine lightness of foot despite its opulence. At just 8% alcohol, this showcases the art of precise harvest work.
Finish
Long, finely spiced and invigorating. The minerality carries far, whilst the fruit elegantly resonates – a finale that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The Goldloch on the Nahe is one of Germany’s most demanding vineyard sites: steep terraces with 45-55% gradient, gravelly primordial rock soils from the Permian period. This geological peculiarity lends the wines their characteristic mineralic signature and salinity, which also marks this 2023.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Riesling in its noblest form. Gentle pressing, fermentation and storage in stainless steel preserve the crystalline clarity and fruit precision. Weingut Diel masterfully understands how to maintain the balance between residual sweetness and acidity.
Food Pairing Recommendations
Classically with blue cheese such as Roquefort or Gorgonzola. Excellent also with Foie Gras, Apple Tarte Tatin or fruity desserts with peach or apricot. The saline minerality makes it an intriguing companion to Asian cuisine with sweet-sour notes.
Special Features
A dessert wine full of finesse that combines opulence with elegance – typical of the great Riesling tradition of the Nahe and the mastery of the Diel house. The 375ml bottle is ideal for special moments together.
