Wine description for Granato Teroldego Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2020 from Foradori
- Colour & appearance
- Dark purple red with violet reflections and a black core - a wine that promises depth and concentration in appearance alone.
- Nose
- The Granato 2020 is aromatic with an impressive stature. Blackberries, Elderberry and Black cherries form the dark fruit-accentuated foundation, complemented by Dried plums, Carnations and black pepper. Crusher Juniper sets spicy accents. With increasing aeration - which this youthful wine urgently needs - the typical Teroldego flavours develop. floral notes with subtle hints of violets. A complex, floating interplay of flavours that deserves large glasses.
- Palate
- The undisputed status of Granato as the Teroldego reference is evident on the palate. The wine masters the fine line between full fruity opulence and cool elegance. The extract-rich fruit is characterised by fine-grained, aristocratic tannins structured, while a majestic arc of acidity provides tension and freshness. No trace of concentration or heaviness - instead Finesse, Racialisation and the alpine character that makes Foradori wines so unmistakable. The acidity gives the wine a good punch and makes it lively.
- Departure
- Long and persistent with wonderfully resonant violet, floral notes. The spicy nuances and the bright, precise fruit remain impressively present.
- Terroir & origin
- The Foothills of the Dolomites characterise this wine decisively. The alpine climate provides the cool elegance and persistence that distinguishes Granato from more concentrated southern wines. It is not strength that scores here, but Finesse and persistence.
- Grape variety & vinification
- Teroldego is an autochthonous grape variety from Trentino that is cultivated biodynamically at Foradori. Granato is the pinnacle of the Teroldego pyramid - a wine that rewards patience. Although already drinkable now with great pleasure, we recommend several years of bottle ageing for optimised development.
- Food pairing suggestions
- Boeuf Stroganoff with rice and beetroot salad, Teriyaki of braised pumpkin with shiitake and sesame, Calamari in black bean sauce with mushrooms. The versatility ranges from hearty meat dishes to flavoursome vegetarian creations.
- Special features
- Granato is the flagship wine of Elisabetta Foradori, a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture in Italy. With only 13% Alcohol the wine proves that greatness does not depend on gradation.
