An authentic South Tyrolean Vernatsch, which combines the traditional lightness of this Alpine variety with the precise signature of the Manincor winery. With a moderate 12.5% alcohol, this wine epitomises the Uncomplicated drinking pleasure, for which Vernatsch has been appreciated for generations - a wine that defines elegance not through power, but through finesse.
Terroir & origin
Manincor cultivates vineyards on the Lake Kaltern, one of the warmest regions in South Tyrol, where the Mediterranean microclimate meets Alpine coolness. The name „The Wedge“ refers to the wedge-shaped plot, which benefits from this unique location. The soils from Limestone and moraine rock give the wine a mineral freshness, while the altitude preserves its characteristic acidity. This combination of warmth and coolness is crucial for the balance of the Vernatsch.
Grape variety & vinification
Vernatsch (also known as Trollinger or Schiava) is the historic leading variety in South Tyrol and produces light-coloured wines, Aromatic red wines with a low tannin content. Manincor, known for biodynamic viticulture and uncompromising quality, interprets this often underestimated variety with respect for its unique character. The wine should Carefully removed to preserve the natural fruitiness and freshness - an approach that prioritises drinkability over concentration.
