Wine Description for Chianti „Terre di Corzano“ DOCG 2023 by Corzano e Paterno

Colour & Appearance
Powerful, radiant ruby red with impressive clarity – a visual promise of purity and precision.
Nose
A textbook Tuscany in the glass. The Sangiovese reveals itself from its most classical side: cascades of cherry in all its shades, underpinned by bay leaf, thyme and sandalwood. The macchia – that characteristic Mediterranean herbal spice – weaves through a dense aromatic tapestry. Subtly ethereal-balsamic notes lend the bouquet an elevated, almost contemplative dimension. Taut, stringent, disciplined – not an ounce of fat on the bone.
Palate
Here the true class reveals itself: the wine moves with athletic precision across the palate. Everything is perfectly balanced – the red fruit embedded in a taut architecture, carried by powdery-fine tannins that caress the mouth without ever dominating. The vibrant acidity drives the wine in constant flow, whilst the extract-rich core appears cinched like in a corset. A wine of remarkable depth and concentration, yet never heavy or overwrought.
Finish
Ethereal-cool and of impressive length. The ruby-gleaming core resonates, accompanied by that balsamic freshness which runs through the entire wine.
Grape Variety & Vinification
A blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo, hand-harvested and vinified separately. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts takes place in small one-tonne vessels and open fermenters. Maceration lasts between 21 to 35 days depending on quality, partly with up to 5% stems. Gentle extraction through submerged cap management, ageing for approximately one year in large botti (25 and 40 hl) as well as partly in used barriques.
Food Pairing Suggestions
An ideal companion to Bistecca alla Fiorentina, Pappardelle al Cinghiale, aged Pecorino or Ossobuco. Also an excellent choice with mushroom dishes and wild ragout.
Special Characteristics
A Chianti that demonstrates what this appellation is capable of: classical elegance instead of modern opulence, terroir expression instead of winemaker ego. A wine for purists and lovers of authentic Tuscan wine culture.
