Color
Rich cherry red with luminous, violet reflections
Nose
The intensely fragrant berry fruit is contrasted by an unusually smoky, bacony component. But with all the variety of raspberry, elderberry, cassis and sour cherry, this change is very welcome. The smoky character is pleasantly dosed and reminds a little of delicately smoked bacon or cedar wood. With a little patience, this note quickly fades in the glass. Curtain up for the pure expression of berry fruits. Sweet cherry and sour cherry interact. In the background, light tobacco leaves, a little aniseed and coriander seeds can be perceived. From the herb garden, one can faintly detect parsley and a little lovage.
Palate
On the palate, it really packs a punch. The acidity is positively in the foreground and dominates the mouthfeel in a balanced way. Crisply developed and with a lot of juiciness, the Bourgogne Rouge "La Taupe" from 2020 manages to empty the glasses quickly. The emerging fruit, above all plenty of sour cherry and raspberry, is directly countered by the acidity sword. With a lot of finesse and a taut structure, it manoeuvres pointedly towards the palate. A very fine tannin can be attested. Its cool, stony character is convincing right from the start.
