Wine information
The Remirez de Ganuza winery has become famous for its red wines - Reserva and Gran Reserva. Since the 2000s, the bodega has also become a renowned white wine producer in Rioja. The Reserva Blanco 2020 is a blend of the main variety Viura and a potpourri of autochthonous white wine varieties such as Malvasia Riojana and Garnacha Blanca. A mix, as it used to be common in Rioja. The wine was aged for nine months in new French barriques.

Nose
The bouquet contains citrus and pastry aromas, it appears ripe and full overall. As is usual with young white Reservas, sweet and spicy wood aromas emerge generously on the nose. Therefore, a lot of air after opening or some more time of storage does the white wine good at this stage. The Reservas and Gran Reservas from Remirez de Ganuza are known for wonderfully integrating the wood over time and developing a complex aroma.
Palate
On the palate, the Reserva Blanco 2020 feels very creamy and silky. The wine is fresh, has a mineral note and a long spicy finish. It has volume and density as well as finesse and elegance. Overall, this full-bodied, round white wine represents a rather classic Rioja style As already in the nose, the aromas of barrique ageing dominate on the palate at this young stage. Air or time work wonders for this Reserva. In any case, this structured wine demands a food accompaniment.
