Wine description for bis-lacco vino bianco 2024 by Valfaccenda

Colour & Appearance
Pale light yellow with green reflections and a silvery rim – a wine that promises its freshness visually from the outset.
Nose
Restrained and precise: waxy yellow apples and crumbly pears meet chamomile tea, chervil and borage. Add to this a mineral note of wet pebbles. This Cuvée of Arneis and Cortese showcases the herbal-spicy side of Piedmont – tidy, straightforward, without unnecessary theatricality.
Palate
Here herbal spice reigns supreme. The bis-lacco is no fruit bomb, but rather an aromatic, dry, almost meditative white wine. The tea notes give it definition, whilst the fruit plays a discreet role in the background. The ripe, moderate acidity provides pace and drinking flow. Aromatic bitter notes – typical of the grape varieties – lend character, with a warm bass rounding things off.
Finish
Medium-length with herbal hints and a charming bitterness that invites you to take another sip.
Terroir & Origin
From the Roero, the steep, sandy hills north of Alba. The soils – ancient sea sand, partly interspersed with clay – shape the mineral freshness of this wine. Luca Faccenda and Carolina Roggera have managed their vineyards around Canale and on the legendary hills Le Rocche according to organic principles since 2014.
Grape Variety & Vinification
A Cuvée of Arneis and Cortese, the autochthonous varieties of Piedmont. At 12.5% alcohol, the wine remains lean and elegant – a deliberate counterpoint to opulent white wines.
Food Pairing Recommendations
Perfect with grilled fish, vitello tonnato, goat’s cheese or herb risotto. The herbal spice also harmonises wonderfully with Asian dishes – try it with Vietnamese summer rolls or Thai salads.
Special Features
An honest, unadorned wine from the Roero that shows Piedmont has more to offer than Barolo and Barbaresco. Valfaccenda consistently focuses on autochthonous grape varieties and organic cultivation – authenticity in a glass.
