- Colour & Appearance
- Dense, almost impenetrable violet-red with a deep black core – a wine that already signals power and substance in the glass.
- Nose
- The nose is seductive and opulent: blackberry and cassis lead the way, accompanied by violet pastilles and a hint of fine dark chocolate. Wild herbs – rosemary, thyme, juniper – lend the fruit abundance a Mediterranean spice and refreshing depth. With air, fine notes of espresso, pepper compote and a delicate rose nuance unfold. A harmonious, complex opening.
- Palate
- Surprisingly fresh and lively for a wine with 14% alcohol – served lightly chilled, the warmth remains completely in the background. The palate shows itself juicy and fruit-driven with refined, ripe tannins that provide structure without harshness. An engaging, uncomplicated red wine with genuine drinking flow.
- Finish
- Medium-length, with pleasant spice and a lingering echo of dark berries and herbs. Clean and well-balanced.
- Terroir & Origin
- The grapes come from the vast, flat lands around Alcamo in western Sicily – a region characterised by intense sunshine, dry summers and mineral soils that give Nero d’Avola its typical depth and fruit concentration.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- Pure Nero d’Avola, named after the patriarch of the Lauria family – a personal homage in a glass. After harvest, the wine matures for 18 months, of which 80% in stainless steel for freshness and fruit clarity, and 20% in barrique for structure and those fine roasted aromas that enrich the nose and palate.
- Food Pairing Suggestions
- A natural companion to grilled dishes of all kinds – whether grilled lamb chops, grilled beef rump or merguez. Equally convincing with Pasta all’Amatriciana, Pasta alla Norma or a hearty Ragù alla Siciliana. Also an excellent choice with mature hard cheeses such as Pecorino.

- The Zio Paolo – „Uncle Paolo“ – is more than a wine: it is a family portrait in a bottle. The skilful combination of stainless steel and small wood preserves the Sicilian authenticity of Nero d’Avola without hiding it behind oak. Lightly chilled (15–16 °C), it shows itself at its best.
