Colour & Appearance

Dense violet-red, almost black at the core.

Nose

On the nose, this Nero d’Avola presents itself in an exceedingly intense and enticing manner. Alongside lush fruit notes of blackberry and cassis, it reveals violet pastilles and fine chocolate. Wild-growing herbs such as rosemary, thyme and juniper lend a delightful spice. Given a little air, nuances of coffee, pickled pepper and fragrant roses emerge.

Palate

On the palate, the wine surprises with a remarkable Mediterranean freshness and an invigorating structure. The juicy fruit meets a polished tannic framework. Served slightly chilled, the integration of its 14.0% abv appears wonderfully balanced and moreish.

Terroir & Origin

The grapes grow on the flat country surrounding Alcamo, roughly 65 kilometres south-west of Palermo. In this historically steeped region of Sicily, the organically farmed estate benefits from cool nights and maritime breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea, imparting a cool elegance to the wines even in warm vintages.

Grape Variety & Vinification

Named after the patriarch of the Lauria family, this wine is made from 100% Nero d’Avola. Maturation lasts for 18 months, with 80% remaining in stainless steel to preserve the primary fruit, whilst 20% matures in barriques.

An outstanding partner for hearty grilled dishes, robust barbecue or intensely seasoned pasta with meat ragù.
