While Welschriesling - despite its name not related to Riesling - is widespread in Central Europe, only a few winegrowers manage to realise the true potential of this variety. The Velich brothers undoubtedly belong to this elite.

Old vines are the key: they are deeply rooted in the soils around Lake Neusiedl and naturally produce lower yields with a higher concentration. The Pannonian climate of this region - hot summers tempered by the lake - gives the Welschriesling its characteristic tension between ripeness and freshness.
