Information about the wine:
The Vindemiatrix, a tribute to the star of the same name in the constellation Virgo, is only created in selected vintages. The Italians and French named their wine seasons - "vendemmia" and "vendange" - after the appearance of this star, a sign that the harvest can begin. The Vindemiatrix was created in the Serrat de la Plane, an extremely challenging vineyard site. With vines over a century old, this wine is a true work of art by nature.
Color:
The wine presents itself in an intense violet-red with fine, lighter tones towards the rim.
Scent:
With the 2014 vintage, the Vindemiatrix unfolds an irresistible, original fruit note. Blackberries, mulberries and blackcurrants merge with hints of rosemary and juniper. Wild saline notes and the spicy freshness of black olives complement the fruity composition. Subtle traces of graphite and charcoal add elegance and depth to this exceptional wine from Georg Meissner.
Taste:
On the palate, the liveliness and elegance of the Carignan manifest themselves, convincing with a superior structure and pleasant coolness. With its juicy structure and moderate alcohol content, it is the perfect accompaniment to a diverse repertoire of dishes, especially those from its home region.
Food recommendations:
Try toasted bread with a paste of Kalamata olives, lamb steaks with thyme, green beans and chopped tomatoes, or grilled octopus on a bed of artichoke and fennel ragout.
