Wine information
Garnacha Blanca is an autochthonous white wine grape of the Ebro region and thus also of Navarre. For decades, however, the cultivation of this grape variety was in decline in the region. Pioneering projects like that of Artazu are now giving it the attention it deserves. The Santa Cruz de Artazu Blanco is made purely from Garnacha Blanca. The grapes come from two vineyards at an altitude of 450 to 600 metres, with clay and limestone soils. Fermentation takes place in 500-litre oak barrels, followed by ageing on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks.
Color
Light gold
Nose
Pome fruits like quince and yellow apple are underpinned by stimulating fresh citrus tones. Spicy and mineral notes contribute to the subtle nose.
Palate
With a creamy texture and at the same time remarkable grip, the Santa Cruz de Artazu Blanco shows a great presence in the mouth. Fullness and linearity form a unity in this white wine. The balance of vibrant acidity and fruit intensity is also tiptop. The discreet bitterness in the animating finish is typical for the white wine grape Garnacha Blanca. Overall, this is a structured, elegant and complex white wine. There are not many Garnacha Blancas so rich in personality.
