Colour & appearance
Pale straw yellow with silvery reflections - a classic appearance for this Piedmontese grape variety, which already promises freshness and vibrancy visually.
Nose
Beguiling and multi-layered: wild mint and Stinging nettle form the aromatic prelude, followed by fresh peara touch of Citrus, Ginger and Fennel herb. This flavour immediately evokes associations with summer herb gardens and the Italian dolce vita - a wine that seduces right from the nose.
Palate
The true class of this Arneis is revealed on the palate: a fine grip and pronounced Minerality give the wine an impressive backbone. The structure is precise, almost taut, without losing its elegance. The low ageing temperature and the deliberate renunciation of malolactic fermentation preserve a refreshing, fresh flavour. Acid, which makes the wine lively and appealing to drink.
Departure
Medium length with lingering herbal notes and a mineral finish. The freshness remains until the end - a wine that invites you to take another sip.
Terroir & origin
The vineyards are located in Santo Stefano Roero, in the heart of the Roero region. The vines, which are on average 25 years old, are rooted in Calcareous marl soils - a combination of shell limestone, clay and sand - which give the wine its characteristic minerality.
Grape variety & vinification
Hand-picked Arneis-The grapes are destemmed, cold macerated overnight and gently pressed. Fermentation takes place at low temperatures (10-12°C) in stainless steel tanks. Maturation on the lees until bottling in February preserves maximum freshness and fruitiness - a prime example of modern, precise white wine production.
Food pairing suggestions
The ideal accompaniment to Italian cuisine that emphasises herbs and vegetables: Risotto with herbs, Grilled fish, Vitello tonnato, Goat cheese or Pasta with pesto. Also to Asparagus and Artichokes an excellent choice.
Special features
Despite its immediate drinking pleasure, this Roero Arneis definitely has ageing potential - as long as you can resist the temptation to open the bottle immediately. At 13.5% vol., it is perfectly balanced between structure and elegance.
