Wine profile
Vincent Rochette's red cuvée Visan Marius combines 80 % Grenache and 20 % Syrah, thriving on the approximately 60-year-old vines around Visan. The three hectares of this particular vineyard are dry, with a unique blend of clay and limestone, and a 60% presence of rock, which has a remarkable impact on the final product, with a yield of around 25hl per hectare. Natural fermentation and twelve months of ageing in 50 hectolitre barrels of Tronçais oak give the wine its special profile.

Scent
An expression of opulence and concentration pours from the glass with the Marius »Le Père Mayeux«. The nose is lulled by an inspiring blend of sweet yeast and ripe cherries, with notes of candied violets and a pinch of dried plum compote, enhanced by a subtle cinnamon note. There is also a slight mystery of bresaola, allspice and chocolate, giving the wine a ripe, juicy and balanced characteristic.

Taste
On the palate, the juiciness unfolds and establishes a connection between the already pronounced fruitiness and spiciness as well as the tart notes of fermented cardamom, dry herbs and a hint of Latakia tobacco. The tannins are ripe and firm, while the acidity remains distinct and fresh until the lingering, juicy and slightly tart finish.

Recommended dishes
A slow-cooked beef shoulder with polenta, peppers and almonds would be a fitting accompaniment, as would a classic pork tenderloin wrapped in pastry. Also try stuffed green peppers with quinoa, oregano, aubergines and garlic for a vegetarian option. These dishes harmonise perfectly with the concentration, spice and contrast of this red wine cuvée.
