Tasting note

Wine information

Les Vignes Métisées is a Gemischter Satz from a vineyard planted and replanted on schist in the Piémont Pyrénéen Oriental between the years 1963 and 2011. The mixed grape varietiesThe wines are made from Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris and Grenache Noir, Carignan Blanc, Carignan Gris and Carignan Noir, Cinsault, Macabeu, Muscat, Malvoisie, Picquepoul and other varieties. The Gemischter Satz was harvested together, directly pressed very slowly and fermented and matured in vats and used tonneaux and barriques.

Nose

The nose already makes it clear that this is a serious, elegant and refined representative of its field. The wine is reminiscent of jasmine flowers, lemons and grapefruits, violets, verbena and lemongrass, some pineapple, herbs and a fine impression of wood.

Palate

On the palate Les Vignes métisées Very fine, fresh, full of energy and tension, minerality and grip. It is the kind of rosé you would wish for from Burgundy, where it hardly exists. The wood is perfectly integrated, providing structure and a little character in the form of pineapple notes and a hint of vanilla. There are also redcurrants, rhubarb and oranges. Compared to many other rosés, the Les Vignes Métisées an emphatically quiet, but a haunting wine that matures excellently and continues to belong to my "favourite rosé wine" category.

Food pairing suggestions

  • Strawberry and beetroot salad with goat's cream cheese balls (Vegetable & Vegetarian)
  • Flank steak with watermelon-feta-mint salad (meat)
  • Figs wrapped in lardo and sprinkled with za'atar (meat)
