The Hochkittenberg vineyard is characterised by steep slate terraces and is located between Leibnitz and Kitzeck-Sausaleinem on a mountain plateau at around 450 m above sea level. Grown on fertile slate conglomerate soils with the cooling winds of the Koralpe, this site produces independent, mineral-spicy wines with a fine play of acidity.
Color
Strong straw yellow with bright reflections.
Nose
On the nose, the 2015 Morillon from Tement's Kittenberg vineyard is initially reserved before it begins to tell its story in a soft but firm voice. After delicate yeast notes and discreet reduction come aromas of ripe citrus fruits, the zest of cedros, followed by herbaceous spicy notes. Everything is connected by the distinctive saline note that comes from the soils and joyfully fills the goblet.
Mouth
On the nose, it is enormously disciplined without an ounce of fat on the well-defined body. Almost sinewy, it stretches across the palate, yet has an inherent juiciness that is accelerated by the fresh acidic nerve. A fast-paced wine with a salty mineral character, subtle fruit and a long, cool finish. A clear case for the mouth-blown glasses.
