Out of stock

Although the southern origin is also noticeable here, Les Quarts is surprisingly fresh and clear, with a long acid arc and bright fruit. The wine seems absolutely balanced between citrus notes and light stone and pome fruits as well as stony minerality and herbal notes reminiscent of honeysuckle, verbena and laurel.

Wine information

Les Quarts is undoubtedly one of the best terroirs in the Pouilly-Vinzelles appellation. The fantastically situated vineyard is oriented to the southeast and has 48 to 80-year-old Chardonnay vines on siliceous and above all ferruginous clay and limestone soil. These are long-lived, well-balanced wines that are produced there. Hand harvesting, whole bunch pressing and spontaneous fermentation are mandatory. Afterwards, the Chardonnay is aged for eleven months to 100 % in barriques, which are almost continuously used.

Nose

The 2017 Les Quarts is a great southern Burgundy. This is obvious from the first waft of scents from the glass. The wine seems absolutely balanced between citrus notes and bright stone and stone fruit, as well as stony minerality and herbal notes reminiscent of honeysuckle, verbena and laurel.

Palate

On the palate, the wine is juicy and full of finesse. Although one notices the southern origin also here, but the Les Quarts surprisingly fresh and clear, with a long acid arc and bright fruit. White stone fruit and citrus provide an intense aroma and a certain fullness, which is always coated and permeated by the ripe and precise acidity. Even in the finish it is present and combines with chalky notes and fine saltiness.
