Weinbeschreibung für Morey-Saint-Denis “En la rue de Vergy” AOC 2022 von Bruno Clair

Terroir & origin

The winemaker

Bruno Clair is one of the most respected traditionalists in Burgundy. Since founding his domaine in the 1970s, he has built up a reputation for precise, terroir-emphasised wines. His philosophy is characterised by restraint - minimal intervention in the cellar, respectful treatment of the vineyards and a patient approach to ageing. Clair's wines are never loud or over-extractedbut always reflect the subtleties of their origins.

Character of the wine

The 2022 vintage in Burgundy was characterised by warm temperatures and sufficient rainfall, which resulted in ripe grapes with good structure. In this Morey-Saint-Denis, the signature of the vintage is evident in a more accessible fruit without losing its typical finesse. With its moderate alcohol content of 13.0%, the wine retains the classic balance that characterises good Burgundy. The low residual sweetness emphasises the dry, precise character.

Food pairing suggestions

The fine structure of this Pinot Noir harmonises particularly well with more subtle dishes: Roast quail with mushrooms, saddle of veal with morels or a simple but perfectly prepared coq au vin. The elegance of the wine calls for dishes that complement rather than mask its nuances.
