Wine Description for Il Conte IGT 2022 1500ml Magnum by Manincor

Character
Il Conte presents itself as an elegant Bordeaux-style blend from South Tyrol, combining international grape varieties with Alpine finesse. The magnum bottle underscores this wine’s claim as a vineyard site wine with ageing potential. Manincor interprets the classic Bordeaux assemblage with the cool precision of South Tyrolean vineyards – a wine that harmoniously unites structure and drinkability.
Terroir & Origin
The Manincor estate on Lake Caldaro is among the pioneers of quality-focused viticulture in South Tyrol. The site benefits from the unique combination of a Mediterranean microclimate and Alpine nights, which provide pronounced freshness and aromatic clarity. The soils of limestone and gravel lend the red wines mineral tension. This climatic balancing act between north and south makes it possible to cultivate international varieties with an elegance rarely achieved in warmer regions.
Grape Variety & Vinification
The blend of Lagrein, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot combines native power with international finesse. Lagrein contributes dark fruit and earthy spice, Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure and cassis notes, whilst Merlot provides suppleness and fullness. With moderate 13% alcohol, the wine remains pleasantly drinkable and avoids the heaviness of many southern red wines. Manincor employs restrained oak usage and artisanal precision to preserve fruit clarity and terroir typicity – an approach that recalls Burgundian philosophy rather than New World opulence.
Food Pairing Recommendations
A versatile companion to Alpine cuisine: excellent with saddle of venison with cranberries, roast beef or aged mountain cheese. The structure harmonises with mushroom risotto or ossobuco, whilst the freshness also pairs well with roast duck or rack of lamb. The magnum is ideally suited for festive occasions and will develop additional complexity over the coming years.
