Let us look at the wine
From the oldest Silvaner harvest comes the impressive Kitzinger Wilhelmsberg Silvaner, which digs its roots deep into the shell limestone of hilly, barren soils. Slow growth gives the vines time to develop their incomparable character.
About the processing
Yields are sparse, but the result is a variety of wines of sublime elegance and minerality, with a storage potential that inspires excitement. In the 2020 vintage, the dynamic duo Markus and Lukas curated the careful selection of first-generation grapes from Kitzingen's Wilhelmsberg, which survived the harsh frost conditions in mid-May.
The grapes were harvested and subjected to the extraction of valuable ingredients for 24 hours before pressing. The must was then fermented spontaneously in French oak tonneaus. The Wilhelmsberg Silvaner matured for an impressive twelve months on the full lees without sulphur and was only sulphurised during the last racking before bottling. The long maturation period in the wooden barrel made an unfiltered bottling possible.
Color
A brilliant, luminous golden yellow.
Bouquet
On the nose, the wine exudes a charming and creamy aura, with notes of yeast, almonds and ripe light fruits such as pear and quince. These aromas are supported by a fine minerality and a multi-faceted depth that exudes a convincing coolness.
Taste on the palate
On the palate, the wine is equally stimulating, multi-faceted, juicy and dense. It is a pleasure to find such a wine for such value for money. A Silvaner that refreshes the senses and stimulates the swallowing reflexes. A delightful companion to culinary delicacies, provided you manage not to empty the bottle first.
Food recommendations
Try this Silvaner with fennel with roasted nuts and citrus butter or with a creamy mushroom soup in autumn. A pleasant companion to sole with lemon-caper butter, young spinach and fresh potatoes. For cheese lovers, a ripe Camembert with pear chutney and crispy ciabatta is an excellent choice.
