Nose
The Eitelsbach Carthusian Courtyard Hill Riesling late vintage seamlessly continues the gradation that is evident throughout the range of 2020 wines. Cool, clear and precise, fresh and immensely stony, it appears on the nose. Green and yellow citrus notes meet freshly picked mirabelles and peaches, green apples and pears. In addition, there are dry herbs and, above all, a distinctive damp, slightly flinty slate.
Palate
On the palate, it all comes together seamlessly The bright, very crisp fruit, the brilliant, clear, punchy acidity, which, together with the minerality, provides a lot of energy, the still slightly yeasty and creamy quality of the extended yeast storage and the sugar of 55 grams with 7.1 grams of acidity, which gives the Riesling an elegant, but by no means excessive sweetness. At the current time, this may well mature for another year, which becomes clear especially when you have the 2019 wines in your glass. Potential has the Late Harvest for another decade, but the drinkability is already impressive.
